HELPING BOZEMAN AND MISSOULA COMMUNITIES GET OFF THE GRASS SINCE 2009
Rooftop Garden Hellgate
I am a teacher at Hellgate High School. Last year we started a rooftop garden. It was a container garden. I have attempted to include my picasa album with photos from it. This year we would like to improve on it. We are looking at building a number of raised beds instead. The problem is load as well as it is set up on a fabric similar to hyplon that is used for rafts. We need to make sure that the load is not excessive and also that we don't destroy the fabric. I am looking for ideas or suggestions of where to look for information on how to go about building something like this. We are also looking at building a greenhouse on the roof. One of my students received a $5000 grant from Lowes for this purpose. Any suggestions or comments are valued. Tanks, peace, lee
