HELPING BOZEMAN AND MISSOULA COMMUNITIES GET OFF THE GRASS SINCE 2009

Of all things about gardening, few topics get more discussion than composting. How to do it, where to do it,etc. Most everyone agrees it is a good way to convert waste to goodness, but not everyone knows exactly how to go about it. Here is a link to some different ways to do it, using a little more equipment and effort. It's not that these approaches are better, but they might work for your style of gardening. http://www.instructables.com/id/Double-Decker-Drum-Composter/

Just what we need: mushrooms hopped up on caffeine! The thought of a mushroom with the java jitters is just plain scary. I am a big fan of finding value in converting waste products to something useful. What kind of mushrooms like a little mud with their mud?

I love the other, expanded designs on that site! http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FSS/REUO/G7WVDGPU/FSSREUOG...

Hey Geoff,

I'm reading up on employing mushrooms into composting systems and the utility this provides (speeds up decomposition), the bioproduct. Stamets also mentions that ecosystem spent mushroom casts create. It gets me wondering about incorporating them into this amazing design you've linked up ... which looks like it alone would pump out compost rapidamente!

What do you think about having these barrels as the primary decomposing agents and running whatever is spent into secondary areas adjacent to them. Certain species of mushrooms could be incorporated at this point (when the compost is more cooled).

Just thinking about the C2C program, if we decreased the time it takes to pump out compost, it would stand to reason that we could increase the amount of bean shops in the project without worry of spacial limitations...and we could sell gourmet buttom shrooms on the side?
