HELPING BOZEMAN AND MISSOULA COMMUNITIES GET OFF THE GRASS SINCE 2009
STReaM Pollinator Garden Project at Bozeman High School
Students participating in STReaM (Summer Tutoring for Reading and Math) need your help installing a Pollinator Garden at Bozeman High School. Students participating in the program are learning about the importance of pollinators in the environment, and in particular, to sustainable agriculture in Montana. The program is "jump starting" the Bridger Alternative Program's Sustainable Systems program at Bozeman High School, beginning this Fall. The program is a career pathway to MSU's Sustainble Food and Bioenergy Systems Program (SFBS).
There are several ways you can help:
1. Visit a participating nursery, Oak Gardens, Lawson's or Murdoch's and buy a plant through our "Donate A Plant" program.
2. Share a plant from your own garden (we'll take veggie starts too!)
3. Attend the Open House/Dig Day, June 27th, 4-6 p.m. at Bozeman High School in the courtyard at the intersection of Main Street and 11th Ave., June 27th, 4-6 pm. Bring your shovel, gloves and your questions.
Work has begun at the Sacajawea Middle School Rain Garden and the students are working very hard to learn about the plants needed to build a rain garden, but we need your help to vegetate the rain garden with native perennials.
STReaM is summer program for "at-risk" students attending Bozeman High School, Sacajawea and Chief Joseph Middle Schools. Students participating in the program will plant a garden to attract pollinators to the Bridger Alternative Program’s vegetable gardens.Students will learn the importance of pollinators in our environment, and in particular, to sustainable agriculture in Montana. The program will also “jump-start” the Bridger Alternative Program’s Sustainable Systems Program, beginning Fall 2012. The program is a career pathway to Montana State University’s Sustainable Food, and Bioenergy Systems (SFBS) program.
